Tag or Keywords = words used to find information
Open Information= Information found freely on the InternetExamples: youtube.com or wikipedia.com
Restricted Information = Information sources on the Internet that require access/money
Netiquette = Rules for communicating on Internet (subject lines and signatures very important in school/work environment).
Database = A collection of data retrieved by tags or keywords
Subscription database = A database you have to be a member of to use information
Fields = This is the area where the computer is searching for the keyword or tag you have entered

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT #4 EXPLANATION
By next week--February 13th--you need to come to class with two articles or one article and one chart that you would like your audience to have read BEFORE your Chapter presentation. This article and/or chart MUST come from one of the subscription databases of Miami Dade College. Fill out the worksheet I gave you in class completely regarding these items.You must also provide one piece of information you found related to your presentation from the open and free resources on the Internet such as Wikipedia and/or YouTube. Again, fill out the appropriate information BEFORE coming to class.
MIDTERM QUESTIONS
Make sure that you can answer and do all of the following before the midterm exam:
1. Can you identify the domain and URL if given an example?
2. Can you identify the homepage URL if given a webpage URL?
3. Can you post a link to your BLOG?
4. Can you find something on youTube if given specific tags?
5. Can you find information in Wikipedia?
6. Can you log into the subscription databases of Miami Dade College and find information in the Academic Search Premier database? (Full-text, subject, keyword, etc.)
7. Can you rewrite an email so that it conforms to the rules of Netiquette?
8. Can you give me an example of an open resource and an restricted one on the Internet?
9. If I give you a webpage, can you identify all the citation information? (For example: URL, title, homepage, etc.?)
If there is anything you are unclear about, make sure you review and ask for help before next Tuesday, February 20th.
